Where to launch an app or SaaS

A launch board brings a burst of early visitors, feedback and a few links back to your site. Most makers post on several boards over a few weeks rather than one. This page compares the common options by how often they run, what is free, and whether the link to your site is followed.

How to choose

Daily boards such as Product Hunt reward a prepared audience on one day. Weekly boards give a launch more time to collect votes. Directories are slower to bring visitors but keep a permanent listing. If backlinks matter to you, check whether the link is followed and what the board asks in return, such as a badge on your site.

A simple launch plan

  1. Prepare one name, a one-line tagline, a short description, an icon and two or three screenshots. Reuse them everywhere.
  2. Start with free boards that have no queue, such as Peerlist Launchpad, Show HN and MadeThisWeek.
  3. Book queued free launches early, because some dates are weeks away.
  4. Pay only where the price buys something you need, such as a chosen date or a followed link.
  5. Reply to every comment during launch week. Comments often bring more visitors than the launch itself.
